My name is Matt and I am a misplaced midwesterner that lives in Atlanta, GA and I’ve been eating barbecue with a rather serious interest in finding the good stuff, for a number of years now. Mostly in Georgia, but have sampled it in a number of other states too. I started keeping a running list of the places I’ve been and I am always snapping photos, so I figured why not blog about it.

Clearly there is no one best BBQ anywhere, but there is a lot of very good, and a an equal amount of not so great out there. I like to judge a bar-b-q joint on its sides as much as I do its meats. Places that serve chips and french fries as sides…well I tend to find they also don’t do a great job with their meats, but there are exceptions, yes there are very good exceptions to that trend. I almost always try the mac-n-cheese and the collards too if they serve it.

I am always looking for new recommendations, and anytime I am on the road for work, I look for a new place to try – fancy or low-brow, I try them all. I hope to make a trip to Alabama some day soon to try so of their ‘cue. Need to hit some more paces in the Carolinas too! Texas – maybe one day, but I still have been to that state…I think if I end up there, I’ll be too interestedin my other food obsession, Mexican and TexMex to mess to BBQ, but I am sure I will try both when I finally make it there.
